Eidon Retinal Imaging

Eidon Retinal Imaging System

At Collins Vision Care, we use a high-resolution retinal camera called the Eidon widefield TrueColor confocal fundus imaging system. It is a device that takes pictures of the back of the eye, or retina. The retina is a thin layer of tissue at the back of the eye that contains light-sensitive cells called photoreceptors. These cells convert light into electrical signals that are sent to the brain, where they are processed to create vision.

The Eidon retinal camera uses a special lens and a digital camera to take detailed pictures of the retina. These pictures can be used to detect early signs of eye diseases, such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration. These diseases can cause blindness if they are not detected and treated early.

The high-resolution retinal camera is a painless and quick procedure. During the procedure, you will be asked to sit in a chair and look into a special light. The camera will then take several pictures of the back of your eye. These pictures can be used to monitor your eye health over time and to detect any changes that may indicate a problem.

If you have any questions about the Eidon widefield TrueColor confocal fundus imaging system, be sure to ask your eye doctor.

Here are some of the benefits of high-resolution retinal imaging:

  • Early detection of eye diseases: High-resolution retinal imaging can help to detect early signs of eye diseases, such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration. These diseases can cause blindness if they are not detected and treated early.

  • Monitoring of eye health: High-resolution retinal imaging can be used to monitor your eye health over time. This can help your doctor to detect any changes that may indicate a problem.

  • Improved diagnosis: High-resolution retinal imaging can help your doctor to improve the diagnosis of eye diseases. This can lead to earlier treatment and better outcomes.

  • Increased patient education: High-resolution retinal images can be used to educate patients about their eye health. This can help patients to understand their risk factors for eye diseases and to take steps to protect their vision.
